Five ways to have fun this weekend.

In theaters this weekend, is the much hyped “The Nun” a horror film from the creative forces behind “The Conjuring” series, about a priest with a haunted past and a novice nun on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun; and Jennifer Garner returns to her action roots in “Peppermint” rated R, a action thriller centering on a young mother (Garner) who awakens from a coma and seeks revenge after learning her family was killed in a brutal attack.

2. Sunday is Grandparents Day, a day to celebrate the grandparents in your life. If they live nearby, go for a visit and spend some quality time with them. If they’re far away, make a special card for them and plan a special Skype call on Sunday.

3. This weekend wraps up National Waffle Week. If you haven’t eaten any waffles this week, what are you waiting for? Make some at home and/or go out for some, just make sure to celebrate this wonderful food.

4. Trekkies rejoice! Saturday is the birthday of “Star Trek.” The show debuted on NBC on Sept. 8, 1966. Check around to see if any comics stores or other places around town are doing anything special, or organize your own party.

5. There are a lot of good sports games this weekend, so get out those TV listings and start planning. There is college football, NFL, MLB, soccer, NASCAR and more.
